COMPANIES AND PEOPLE I’VE DONE WORK FOR
I’ve worked as an employee or a consultant for quite a few well known audio and MI companies, as well as a few totally unrelated to music or sound. I’ve also done work for numerous individual musicians (famous, infamous, and other) and recording studios. More recent clients are not included here, as in some cases I’m not yet allowed to tell anyone about it!
Past Employers
I’ve been a design engineer at these companies as a full time employee.
Nektar Technology: DAW Controllers under the Nektar brand, digital pianos and electronic drums under other brand names, started a new Engineering team and implemented Engineering process
Numark: iPod recording products, mixers, electronic drums, and contributed to design reviews of DJ related products.
Alesis Studio Electronics (pre-Numark): Synthesizers, digital piano, studio electronics & mixer products, ended as synthesizer group manager
Fender Musical Instruments: Mixers, guitar and bass amplifiers, digital reverb
Neotek: High end mixing consoles for recording studios, broadcast, film, and remote recording, and managed a small Engineering department.
Dukane Communication Systems: Cost constrained sound contractor oriented products for offices, airports, stadiums, schools, hospitals, and prisons. Included equalizers, compressors, preamps, tone and noise generators, intercoms, and power amps.
Companies I’ve Consulted For
These are a few of the companies I’ve done contracting work for in the past. I’m not able to disclose more recent consulting clients. I did electronic hardware design and/or PCB layout and schematic entry for most of these clients. In some cases, I helped with other aspects of their Engineering needs.
ADAM Audio: High end professional powered studio monitors. I provided customer technical support, warranty repair, hardware design consulting, and came up with fixes for some RF and other electronics problems.
Anchor Audio: Portable sound and PA systems. I helped with electrical design and PCB layout. I also set up their Engineering team with a new PCB/ Schematic CAD system and helped train them on it.
Angle Linear: I did some PCB layout for Angle’s RF preamp products
Event Electronics: Pro audio and studio electronics, digital mixer
Eventide: Signal processors and studio electronics
Line 6: Guitar amp modelers and Variax
JL Cooper: MIDI control and automation
SWR: Bass amplifiers. This set of projects was mainly recreating schematic and PCB design files in CAD, based on tracing and measuring physical samples. (The original non-CAD design files had been lost.)
Zinky/ Smokey Amplifiers: Guitar amplifiers and accessories
iSupply: Product tear-down analysis
Nearfield Systems (NSI): Antenna measurement systems. I did an in-house CPLD based test fixture design and a process review for government compliance
The Phillips Group: Video and 3D research project
Zebra: Printers
